Power BI is Now Available on Microsoft’s 3 Sovereign National Clouds
In our last blog, one of the benefits we listed with Microsoft Power BI is that it’s available on three national clouds. So, what exactly does this mean for your organization?
In addition to its global network of data centers, Microsoft cloud services are available in three separate national cloud data centers. Each cloud environment comprises physical and logical network-isolated instances of Microsoft enterprise cloud services, which are confined within the geographic borders of specific countries and operated by local personnel.
The compliance offerings and audit procedures of these national clouds are maintained separately from the global public cloud services while security, privacy, and transparency remain consistent.
Some of the key services available in Microsoft’s national clouds include:
• Microsoft Azure services, which offer hyper-scale computing, storage, networking, and identity management. Azure safeguards data in the cloud at the government-required level of security, privacy, control, compliance, and transparency.
• Microsoft Office 365 uses a defense-in-depth security strategy that protects data through multiple layers (e.g. physical, logical, and data), ensuring that security controls are present at each layer and that, should any one area fail, there are compensating controls to maintain security always.
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a cloud-based customer relationship management (CRM) solution that equips government employees with data reporting, modeling, and workflows while offering security features that can limit access to sensitive data.
